The Trinity Trust Announces Trinity River Art Contest for Children Kindergarten through 8th Grade with Cash Prizes

The Trinity Trust, in partnership with DallasChildMagazine, announces a Trinity River Art Contest for children ages kindergarten through 8^th grade to use their imaginations to illustrate things found in and around the Trinity River. Select drawings will be chosen and displayed during the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge Celebration on March 2-4, 2012.

Dr. Gail Thomas, president and CEO of The Trinity Trust, said, “We want children to embrace the Trinity River with their most creative drawings. Images can be anything found in and around the Trinity River including the river, frogs, trees, birds, kites, turtles, canoes, snakes, ducks, bicycles, fish, the sun, spiders, the moon, people, buildings, the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and more.”

Prizes will be awarded to winning images in each category: Kindergarten-3^rd grade, 4^th-6^th grade, and 7^th-8^th grade. The grand prize, 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd and honorable mentions will be determined by an esteemed panel of judges. One overall grand-prize winner will be awarded $100, along with the winner's school/art program receiving $1,000. For 1^st place in each category, the winners will receive $75.00. For 2^nd place in each division, winners will receive $50.00. For 3^rd place in each division, winners will receive $25.00.

About the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge Celebration, Bridging The Trinity For The Love Of The City

The Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, artfully engineered by world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava, is transforming our relationship to the 20 mile green space that belongs to Dallas’ citizens and is known as the Trinity River Corridor. The bridge's signature arch and 58 cables mesmerize as they span the Trinity River and connectWest Dallas with the heart of downtown. The Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge joins over a dozen downtown bridges, all overlooking the Trinity River that runs beneath them.

Once the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge opens March 2012, the adjacent Continental Avenue Bridge will be transformed into a pedestrian plaza and park space connecting West Dallas with the Design District and downtown. The Margaret McDermott Bridge, replacing the I-30 bridge, begins construction in 2012 as does the new Sylvan bridge.
